German American Day is October 6!

So what does that mean?

It means that the German classes are going to get the word out about the significance of German in America’s history!

HOW?

We are going to do a poster campaign for the school!

Look at the attached list of famous German-Americans.  We’re going to make some posters to put around school showing how proud we can be of our German heritage!

Step One: Brainstorm some slogans we can translate into German for our posters.

Example: Kiss me, I speak German!

                             Küss mich, ich spreche Deutsch!

Step Two:  Research 3 Famous German-Americans.

  1. Fill out one worksheet for each person.
  2. Type 2 quiz questions about the person in a Word document.

Step Three:  Posters!

1.       Make 3 posters with 3 different people.

2.      Each poster should use a different slogan.

3.      The slogan should be in German, with the English translation MUCH SMALLER than the German.

4.      Each poster should have a picture of the person on it.

Step Four Do a class presentation.

  1. Begin with your information about the famous person
  2. Include your references(where you found your information)
  3. Do something creative to present your famous person:

r     Song

r     Skit

r     cake in the shape of the person’s head

r     Rap

r     PowerPoint presentation

r     illustrated poster

r     etc. – use your creativity
